Total Time = 1h 27m 55s
Overall Rank = /433
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 8/41
Pre-race routine:

hour drive out, banana and protien bar with some water and Mtn Dew for some caffine
Event warmup:

standard stretching, took a quick 100yd swim to warm up (50 yd pool), GU 20 min before start of race
Swim
  • 06m 11s
  • 300 yards
  • 02m 04s / 100 yards
Comments:

Water was warm, seeded myself about right. passed a few people in the water and was passed by a couple of people who had obviously seeded themselves a little too far back. Overall not a bad swim, could've pushed it a little more to get sub 6 min but I'll take it.
What would you do differently?:

push a little harder through the swim.. need to continue to work on my technique through the winter.
Transition 1
  • 01m 48s
Comments:

decent run to transition, not sure I could've been much faster but felt ok with it.
What would you do differently?:

not much, felt pretty good.. maybe run fster from the pool..
Bike
  • 52m 44s
  • 16.5 miles
  • 18.77 mile/hr
Comments:

more climbs than I was prepared for.. not much in the way of flat sections, but good course regardless..
What would you do differently?:

push a little more on training on the hills.. didn't do bad, but definitely didn't have the push towards the end of the race..
Transition 2
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

not a bad transition, i stopped to grab water on the way out which caused me a few seconds..need to figure out a little better placement of my stuff or possibly keep my number on backwards while riding..
What would you do differently?:

wait to grab water further out.
Run
  • 25m 30s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 30s  min/mile
Comments:

took a little longer to get into my groove with the hills. had a side stitch that would move from side to side.. ended up walking for about 15 seconds trying to get that to go away, no avail so just pushed through it.
What would you do differently?:

suck it up and push through the side stitch.
Post race
Warm down:

walked around, drank water.. met my wife and ran in with her on her lap.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

not enough training due to the travel I was doing the previous 2 weeks.. one more tri to go and done for the year...

Event comments:

team-magic puts on a good event, this was the 7th annual was their typical level so pleased with the event.
