Swim
Comments: 1st ocean swim and I nailed it! I had so many fears. Coming in last, deep water, sharks, jellyfish. You name it. It wasn't as rough as last year but the water was colder. The waves further out must have had a 2 feet swell on them. The way the balloons on the buoy kept disapearing proved that for me. What would you do differently?: Live in San Diego if I could! Totally! Post race
Warm down: My poor friend Shannon was so cold when she got that I had to help her get up the stairs, pick our clothes up and get her something hot to drink. I mean she was shaking so badly. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing really. Perhaps a little bit of "Ocean Fear" Event comments: I have been to many, much smaller events than this that have been really bad with organization. This just blew me away. 2000+ swimmers every year and everything is just on time and well done. Best organized race I've ever been too. The best part about coming back in was the giant flashing beacon they had on the beach. EVERY RACE NEEDS ONE OF THESE!!!!!!!!!!!! So easy to sight! Even over the waves. At one point though I turned to breath and was thrown by a giant wave. Yah, swallowed quite a bit right there. Loved seeing all the tropical fish again on the way in. Those garibaldi's are something spectacular! Last updated: 2010-08-30 12:00 AM

Finding parking was easier than we thought. We drove in the back way along Mission Beach and got one just a few minutes away from the cove.
