Swim
Comments: OK swim for me, except the wetsuit is cutting my neck, and it hurt. I had put vaseline on the neck but that didn't help much. It was ~18' when I stood up as the water became too shallow, so a slow swim, but not unusual. Then the bottom of the lake became somewhat undulating, and I did a couple of dolphins in between walking to shore. As I started to take the wetsuit off, it got stuck to BOTH my wrists. I could't even pull with my fingers, 'cos both hands are now inside the top half of my sleeve. Official photographer got some pix of this. All this time I'm wondering, what would happen if I couldn't get the wetusit off, not even the top half off my arms? What would you do differently?: Try to get wetsuit sleeve off one arm completely first. At least then if the sleeve gets stuck to the wrist, I can use fingers from the other hand to get it unstuck. Transition 1
Comments: So I'm still struggling with my wetsuit, still can't even get either sleeves off my wrists. Swimmers came in after me, put on helmets, cycling shoes and leaving the transition and my wetsuit sleeves are still stuck. Minutes went by, sleeves finally off! Now it stuck to my heels, more stuggling, pulling. Pretty much the slowest transition in the entire field! Bike
Comments: Maintain a strong pace. The hills are generally quite benign. Passed a ton of people. The course is so pretty. Transition 2
Run
Comments: Felt surprisingly strong. Even passed a number of people in the run. 1st AG in the run, first time this season. That means my endurance must have improved over the course of the season. HR was in the 150's, high Z4, very good effort. Post race
Warm down: Ran through finish chute, straight to transition and pack up my things. Had to rush back to attend niece's wedding. Event comments: I didn't stay to check race results as we had to rush back to attend hubby's niece's wedding. There was wifi at the reception and I was able to check the results. I came 3rd AG, which means I lead the series by 135pts. Last updated: 2010-08-30 12:00 AM

Usual Mcd coffee and 1/2 muffin. Hubby drove, took about 2hr 10min, lost 10' on 401 because of road construction, still got there an hr before. Lots of time to rack. Dave H, a colleague, the only other triathlete at work, wearing his newly minted Muskoka 70.3 shirt, came by to wish me luck. Also chatted a little with Christine M, fresh from coming 4th at the Worlds in Budapest. Water temp was 14C in Budapest, warmer than Worlds in Vancouver, but since Vancouver, all of us are a bit more skittish swimming in cold water.
Water was cold, John Salt claimed it's 72F, but that's not possible. Colder than Wasaga, which was 64F. Dunk my face in the water a couple of times and swam 25m to acclimize to cold water.
