Pre-race routine:

Had pre-race jitters so I slept poorly. Left the house at 5:15am.
Event warmup:

No warm up for me. I don't like getting in cold water and then standing around waiting to start. I'm afraid my muscles will get all tight.
Swim
  • 15m 36s
  • 875 yards
  • 01m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was super nervous for the swim since almost all of my swimming this summer has been in a pool. However, once I got in the jitters went away and my swim felt fantastic! I went wide in order to avoid other swimmers. I never touched anyone in the water. At one point it was very foggy and hard to spot the final buoy.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing! Well..other than swim even faster! :)
Transition 1
  • 03m 40s
Comments:

I really wanted to do a better job in transitions in this race. I was bummed that I was in there so long because I felt so quick. However, when I looked at everyone elses time I realized this was pretty much the norm.
What would you do differently?:

Don't think I could have done anything to make it go quicker.
Bike
  • 34m 28s
  • 11 miles
  • 19.15 mile/hr
Comments:

Hubby put on aero bars for me the day before. I didn't think I would use them during the race, but I loved them! Don't know if I was faster but I felt faster. I did a lot of passing and was only passed by men.
What would you do differently?:

I should have gone harder. I was worried about saving my legs for the run, but I should have just pushed more and let the run be what it was.
Transition 2
  • 02m 20s
Comments:

What an awesome feeling to come into T2 and only see one bike already on the rack!
Run
  • 28m 21s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 27s  min/mile
Comments:

I just freaking suck at running! This is where I watched ladies in my age pass me and I just didn't have it in me to keep pace with them. I got a sideache at around 2 miles and walked for 10 steps. Thankfully that did the trick and I got back to running after that. I didn't see any mile markers and that was frustrating because I think I would have picked up the pace sooner if I knew just how much I had to go.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster. I really think I had more gas in the tank. I certainly would have had more gas in the tank if I knew that if I improved my time by a couple minutes I would have got a medal!
Post race
Warm down:

Hugs and kisses from the family!! :)

Event comments:

I had a blast doing this race! I improved my time from last year by 8 minutes! I am glad I did this race because it has given me new motivation to train harder.
