Swim
Comments: If this is your first tri be prepared that your training and technique may go out the window due to the rush you'll feel and you'll just swim like you never have before...try to relax and just go with the flow... What would you do differently?: Actually I wouldn't do anything different, it was a learning experience and you should do what is comfortable for you. Transition 1
Comments: Not too sure on how long it took...I was a tad wobbly and walked to my transition area and it was a short walk and on the sidewalk so it's not bad at all...walk if you're wobbly.... What would you do differently?: Mark my transition area better.....I'll explained in T2. Bike
Comments: Like most of the race it was a new experience and everything just seem like a daze...just trying to get from one point to the next. What would you do differently?: I think I'd try to enjoy it more instead of focusing on getting from one point to the next...relax and enjoy more while keeping a good pace. Transition 2
Comments: When I returned from my bike I lost track of where my area was (although I counted how many rows from the entrance I was at...just forgot), I was told my friends and experience triathletes to mark my area with something bright where I can find it...I used an orange towel and wouldn't you know it the joker next to me threw his bag on my towel...but I learned next time make sure I know where I'm at exactly and maybe do a better job of marking my area. Run
Comments: Flat course through a neighborhood and plenty of water stops and as always a lot of volunteers and supporters out there. This was actually the best part but also the hardest...you're tired but you know the end is in sight. Post race
Warm down: After the race it was a tad hot and drank some water and hung around the finish line to congratulate others and talked to friends, etc... What limited your ability to perform faster: I think we all always feel we could've trained better or spent more time, but if it's your first tri and you're not ultra competitive then relax and enjoy the experience and don't get caught up in thinking you didn't do enough. I finished it and I didn't want to go faster..... Event comments: My first tri so I really don't have anything to compare it too, however I've ran a few marathons and the organization, and volunteers were great and the course was flat...overall excellent event and I'll do it again next year. Race El Paso

Overall Rank = /
Age Group = 50 - 54
Age Group Rank = 3/112
A bit nervous for my first tri but was anxious and just had a small breakfast; waited for a friend and off we went.
Checked in and then got to the transition area and set up...we got there extra early and I'd recommend that to all beginners just to help in relaxing before the race.
