Swim
Comments: Start of the swim was definitely a boxing match! Hands, feet, bodies, everywhere... Took a little while to catch a rhythm but after 100 it went pretty well. Breathing was a little difficult at I still had a cold and didn't feel like I was fully exhaling. The exit on the stairs was interesting as you are a little disorientated for a second. Goggles were good and didn't fog which was a bonus over Pleasant Prairie. Noticed a tear in my wetsuit moments prior to putting on the suit which was a bummer...time to patch it and see if it is salvagable. What would you do differently?: Train a little more on speed... Transition 1
Comments: HUGE transition area...ran past my bike by about 5 yards and had to run back. A little shocked on my T1 time as I thought it would have been about 1:30. Other than running by the bike it went pretty smooth. Took wetsuit off on the run to T1 which was nice. What would you do differently?: Find bike better. Not sure how but when you leave transition at 5:20, it looks completely different after everyone is in...maybe stay in transition until 5:45? Bike
Comments: Good bike. This was fun as I was doing nothing but passing people! Was wondering if I just had that bad of a swim or what but didn't really care as I must have passed 100 - 125 people. What would you do differently?: Maybe rent race wheels? I had them reserved but canceled them when I got sick to save the money. Transition 2
Comments: Again....transition is HUGE! Hardest part is finding a clear route where people aren't walking or standing in the way. What would you do differently?: Taken a clearer route to my spot on the rack. Run
Comments: Decent run...negative thoughts held me back a little. Not sure if it was because of my cold or what but a little worried about bonking on the run so kept a steady pace through mile two and kicked it for the last .5 mile. I was happy with the fact that again, all I did was pass people and NO ONE passed me. What would you do differently?: run harder....had some left in the tank for sure. Post race
Warm down: Water, Gatorade and hugs with Marla. What limited your ability to perform faster: COLD...lungs felt like they had a cat in them and the snot was definitely running down my throat. Event comments: My goal coming into this race was to make the top 10 in my age group and I ended up 10th! Overall, it wasn't as good of a race as Pleasant Prairie but I was happy with it. The best part of it, even over taking 10th, was that after the swim I passes a ton of people and NO ONE PASSED ME in the bike or run! Last updated: 2010-09-01 12:00 AM

Stayed at the Red Roof Inn which was about a half mile from transition. Woke up at 4am and left the hotel at about 4:45 to bike down to trasition. Got everything set and then walked down to the swim area and meet up with Marla and Jolene. Took until 5:15 or so to get set up,3/4 mile walk to the swim start and arrived there at about 5:40. Pretty much perfect timing as my gun went off at 6:24am.
Shoot the shit with Marla and Jolene
