Age Group Rank = 6/33
Pre-race routine:

Up early as I had an hour drive. Because I was up early I had a semi-normal breakfast.
Event warmup:

Few minutes on the bike and about 5-10' run. Wish I could have gotten in the water too but they seemed to close it off early.
Swim
  • 23m 5s
  • 1584 yards
  • 01m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim was okay for me. Not great actually. My goggles fogged up around the half way buoy. Because I was in wave 6 I swim up on the two groups in front of me which caused for some crazy navigation as I could hardly see them with my foggy goggles.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe go out harder at the start. I came out of the water feeling pretty good so I think I could have went out a bit harder.
Transition 1
  • 02m 52s
Comments:

I had trouble getting my suit off my heels. this has never happened to me.
Bike
  • 1h 12m 8s
  • 26.3 miles
  • 21.88 mile/hr
Comments:

Fun course. I was riding on new wheels so it was fun to see how they would run in a race. One other athlete and I literally traded spots the entire bike. Passed way more then I was passed which is nice for a change, I think it was because I started in wave 6.
What would you do differently?:

Again I felt really good off the bike so I think I could have gone a tad bit harder. Averaged about 22mph, which is not bad for me.
Transition 2
  • 01m 35s
Run
  • 47m 5s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 07m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

Terrible run for me, really terrible actually. I was coming off a calf injury so I ran a bit nervous. Calf actually felt okay but I think it's because I did not run hard at all. My left quad cramped slightly, which was a new feeling for me. Could have been because of the heat.
What would you do differently?:

Run like I know how to and not scared. I have a few more races coming up so I guess it was smart to go easy.
Post race
Warm down:

Water, water and more water. Brought my dog down to the water so he and I could both cool down.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Calf was the only thing holding me back.

Event comments:

This was my first Cranberry experience. Great race. Loved seeing the colleges there. This is really run well.
