Pre-race routine:

This was my husband and my first Olympic distance triathlon. It also was our 28th wedding anniversary! We got up at 5:30. Had some breakfast and finished packing our last minute stuff.
Event warmup:

We warmed up by biking 1 1/2 miles to the event. We got there by 7:00 to see a friend start on her 10K run event and listen to opening ceremonies. The first wave went off at 7:30, my husbands at 8:30 and mine didn't go off until 9:30. The good part was transition stayed open so I watched the waves go off and then went up after my husband's wave went to get myself ready.
Swim
  • 52m 1s
  • 1640 yards
  • 03m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

I went into the water about 10 min before my wave to warm up and found out that my goggles had a leak. They were fine last time I used them so that was a little disappointing. I didn't feel like I had time to run up to transition to get my spare pair so I just decided to deal with it. I wear contacts so I was afraid to put my head in the water and lose my contact so I just swam with my head up. It slowed me down but the good part was I swam the whole way. In my past sprints I would stop to settle myself down (this is my first season of tri's). I was really slow but it was actually quite relaxing to just take it slow and look around :)
Transition 1
  • 05m 5s
Comments:

I thought I was faster but I wasn't!
Bike
  • 1h 56m 15s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 12.83 mile/hr
Comments:

I'm riding a hybrid bike and my time shows that. It was a beautiful out and back, 4 loop course. There was a lot of wind going out and a nice fast return. I was planning to ride my bike this whole year but now I'm really ready for a big girl bike :)
Transition 2
  • 04m 25s
Comments:

I drank 2 bottles on the bike so I had to take a bathroom break. It was nice to have porta potties in transition.
Run
  • 1h 04m 6s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

I felt pretty good going out and running and just having my legs to depend on instead of leaky goggles and a slow bike. I had my fastest 10K time ever which was lots of fun. I think I was 5 min faster then my fastest stand alone 10K.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, the run was good!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and ate some food.

Event comments:

Great organization and a great venue.
