Swim
Comments: Horrible swim - was not feeling it at all. Time the gun went off my brain was flooded with everything that has gone on this past year personally, with my IM training, my IM and the fact that I just didnt' want to race b/c I was burnt out. I had all intentions of not racing after getting out of the water. What would you do differently?: everything - I tried to focus on the race but my head just wasn't in it! Transition 1
Comments: Wasn't planning on finishing the race. I sat at my stuff for a min and finally told myself to start the bike and see how I feel and go from there! What would you do differently?: not just sit there . . . Bike
Comments: After getting settled on the bike and my heart rate down I was able to get my head in the race and felt good. Finally focused - I held back on the first half and was able to pick it up on the back half of the course. Felt solid and nutrition was right on! Happy I didn't get sick on the bike for the first time lol!!! What would you do differently?: Drink more fluids Transition 2
Comments: Thought I took longer than I did b/c I sat down for a min to try and tape up my blister from Louisville - it was too wet though so I threw all the stuff down got my running stuff together and took off! Run
Comments: felt solid the first loop and had to back off a little the second loop. Didn't fall apart and was able to avoid hitting any walls! It was by far my best run ever in a Tri!!! What would you do differently?: not go out so hard in the beginning even if I do feel good. Oh and remember my bib # - yeah I took off with out it and was lucky not to get caught haha!!! Had a friend and my coach go back to get it for me and was able to get it for the second loop of the run!!! Post race
Warm down: Walked around What limited your ability to perform faster: pre-race mental status. Event comments: For it being a half IM 4 weeks after my first full IM - it was one of my best races this year. I know you can't really compare this with sprints or a full but I didn't get sick on the bike and I didn't fall apart on the run like I normally do regardless of the distance. Mentally I was not with it at first but it all came together for a really good race and a 30 min PR from last year!!! I'll take it :) Last updated: 2010-09-02 12:00 AM
