Swim
  • 21m 54s
  • 1094 yards
  • 02m / 100 yards
Transition 1
  • 03m 34s
Comments:

Not a bad time for first ever real transition. Did include a run to the staging area
What would you do differently?:

Maybe bring a bucket to sit on. I would have started GPS as soon as I came in.
Bike
  • 1h 35m 12s
  • 25 miles
  • 15.76 mile/hr
Comments:

Kicked my butt. I started out real good, but then hit the first little hill followed by the 5 mile long updward grind into the wind. I struggled a lot with speed dropping into the single digits on the 1st lap. The second lap - same stretch - I manged to pick-up 5 mph in speed. Swim tok more than I thought it would.
What would you do differently?:

Ride the course before. Although I drove it twice before the race, it was not the same.

Transition 2
  • 02m 33s
Comments:

May have dismounted too soon. We were told to mount on the road; however, when we came back, I dismounted on the road. Then I heard the volunteer tell the person behind me "dismount as soon as you can" which could have been closer to the transition area.
What would you do differently?:

Need bodyglide on nipples.
Run
  • 1h 18m 48s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 12m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran OK but could not keep pace. Did better than I expected considering how bad I was on the bike. Kept desired pace for first 2 miles to only see it decline over the last several. Cramped in both quads on the steep downhill while trining to get back some time (hit 7mph and started to cramp).
What would you do differently?:

New shoes are needed. Need more run practice with intervals and such. Nipples got sore again - need bodyglide
Post race
Warm down:

Gave Jan a hug and stretched. Smiled a lot

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My conditioning. Went from couch to Tri in a little over 8 weeks - training 3-5 hours a week.

Event comments:

Very friendly and lots of people who are just out to finish. Not hard core so a very good starter race.
