Run
Comments: signed up for this race two days prior. went in not expecting much at all as i was treating this as a training run just to get some fun distance in. because of that i started pretty far back and ended up with a first mile of 7:22. wasnt disappointed at all with that. settled into a nice comfy pace for the rest of the way and alternated gatorade and water at every aid station. also made a point of talking to people on the way by whether they were fellow runners or volunteers or even the spectators. crossed the line and was surprised by my finish time since i was still feeling good and my goal was about 1:30-1:35. so happy with where i am at trainingwise is an understatement! big shout out to Tall Tri Dad who went sub 2 hours for the first time!!! he has worked his booty off and executed a flawless race!! also PRing was Jmwebs who trained thru this with no taper on his way to what im sure will be a fantastic marathon come october!! Amyfriese also PRd in her second half mary and Lunatic (who has been battling a leg injury) also finished looking very very strong!!!) other donkai there were sbsmann who beat his goal and kbrietz who also looked strong at the finish!!! lrunfit was there as well doing the 5K and, of course, won hardware as usual!!! proud of the donkai nation on this day!!! EEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW!!! What would you do differently?: N-A-D-A!!! Post race
Warm down: back onto the course to cheer in jmwebs, lunatic, amyfriese and tall tridad!! What limited your ability to perform faster: N-A-D-A Event comments: Excellent job with this race with all of the construction issues that affected the course. also, love the aid stations being seperate from the mile markers, that helps lots in breaking up the course! wake up, grab yogurt and protein bar, water and gatorade and head out to meet up with lunatic and amyfriese. met them, followed them out the event. Amy was in charge of directions and navigation, she turned that very important task over to........HER PHONE!! well needless to say that here "smart" phone is actually pretty dumb as the "phone" totally missed a turn! it all ended up good tho as we ended up driving basically the last half of the course which gave us a pretty good preview of what to expect!
found all the donkai in attendance as well as InStep racing team members and a few others I knew that would be there. did a 10 min easy run, then stretched. followed that up with another 10 minute run with some build ups built in and finished off my water and some more gatorade. then went over to the start.
