Comments: The run group start really highlighted how slow my running is... everyone just went BANG and they were off... oh well, I still passed a few guys on the 2nd km so that is good!! ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Tough transition as the course went straight up a hill before I could even get my feet in my shoes... What would you do differently?: Helmet on FIRST... not just before I try to lift the bike off rack. ![]() Bike
Comments: I kinda felt like I was pushing pretty hard but then with 10km to go I realised I can push a lot harder and up'ed my speed to around 36km/h from 28-30km/h. What would you do differently?: Try to really focus on pushing as hard as possible for as long as possible. I know I can sit on around 33km\h comfortably if there is no head wind. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: I really struggled to get my socks and shoes on... not sure if it was because of the 1st run that messed it all up or what? What would you do differently?: Try to make sure my shoes and socks are laid out better and not in a place where they can be knocked by others. ![]() Run
Comments: I felt SLOW but still managed to run close to my standard pace... Not sure how to get faster at this stage? What would you do differently?: I keep on telling myself to push harder, especially at the start of the run, but MAN IS IT HARD. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Drink some Gatorade, and walk around with Lori... very minimal stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: My fitness, my bike (or more importantly everyone else's bike's) my diet, etc... the usual suspects. Event comments: I would have preferred to swim rather than have this replaced by a run. So the water was a little murky... who cares! I understand why they didn't have the swim, but by removing my strongest leg, I felt quite disadvantaged... Oh well! Next time!! Last updated: 2010-09-05 12:00 AM

Got a little sleep in today as I only had to travel 45 mins to get to Portarlington from Home in Geelong! Same breakfast as usual (smoothy and toast) then packed the car, drove to Portarlington, racked my bike and got inked.
I was about to get into my wetsuit when I realised the swim was cancelled due to poor water quality and to be replaced with a run, so my warmup kinda got messed up and I ended up not doing anything but some light stretching.
