Swim
Comments: Swim was not great. I couldn't really get in a rhythm because of bumping into other people and getting off course. Finally, in the last 200m or so, I started getting a good pace, sighting less. What would you do differently?: Just put my head down and swim more and let myself get off course a little if that's what happens. Transition 1
Comments: Worst part was running up the beach over all the rocks and then running over the street to the bike. My actual changing was pretty fast. What would you do differently?: Maybe get a jersey instead of the tank top I had so that it didn't get stuck and twisted while I was putting it on. Bike
Comments: Felt pretty good about my bike pace - this is where I have made the greatest improvements! On most of the uphills I was able to keep it to 11-12mph, except a couple long ones where I dropped below 9mph. I even passed on hills! Never stopped pedaling except on the downhill after the long hill at around mile 9.5. What would you do differently?: Nothing - felt good. Transition 2
Comments: No real problems - got shoes changed pretty quick. Run
Comments: Started out so slow - legs were dead from the bike - and then I just couldn't pick it up much throughout the whole run. What would you do differently?: Train more with bricks! Really push it for first 1/2-1 mile, then slow down as necessary. Post race
Event comments: Main complaint is the swim location. Way too rocky, both getting in and out of the water. Maybe they could add those mats that I've seen at other races all the way from the edge of the water through the entire transition area. Last updated: 2010-09-07 12:00 AM
