Swim
Comments: Pretty good swim as I have been sub 15:00 in the pool all month. Bumping was not too bad. Sighting was not great and I went pretty wide on the second turn to home. What would you do differently?: Not much. Sighting is a big problem for me as my eyesight is horrible. Prescription googles help a lot, but still very hard with the correction I need. Transition 1
Comments: Came out of the suit pretty well. Had a terrible time getting my socks on and it took me several attaempt to get my helmet buckled. I was a little tired from the swim, but man, it took forever to get my helmet buckled becsude I was getting frustrated What would you do differently?: Several things - First would be to get some decent Tri-bike shoes that I can wear sockless, second Take a deep breath and carefully clip helmet. Bike
Comments: I initially got stuck behind two girls who just would not get up to race speed at all. They took their leisure time - but I DID NOT pass even though I wanted to badly. That was at least a 30 second hit. Other than that I continued to demonstrate how bad a bike shape I am really in. Hills were tough and I could not maintain a decent pace. What would you do differently?: I need to get some more bike time in. Practice hills more regularly. Transition 2
Comments: I really have tri shoe and speed lace envy. Three straps on my bike shoes and that are also hard to pull off with the wet socks. What would you do differently?: Get better bike & run shoes with speed lace device Run
Comments: Due to my bad knees I can't run train very well so the run is a huge struggle for me. I had a knee injury about a month before the race so I only ran one time prior to the race. I really think that there could be a way to train without so much pain. At best I can run once per week - so may just have to live with it. What would you do differently?: Try to train more efficiently and not do too many outings of training. I believr that the knee injury was a direct result of me trying to run three times a week in the early training months Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some chocolate milk, water and a half bagel with peanut butter. Talked to Jason about our races and packed up in the rain. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training caused by physical injury and knee limmitations. Training time in general this year was very difficult due to extreme work pressures Event comments: I really enjoy this race. Skaneateles is a beatiful town and the surrounding area very scenic. I will continue to do this race each year if possible Last updated: 2010-09-07 12:00 AM
