Swim
Comments: Nice comfortable swim; didn't push the pace, took advantage of drafting when given the oppurtunity. What would you do differently?: First Olympic Distance swim, so I did not push the swim. Transition 1
Comments: It was an average T1, long run to the mount line What would you do differently?: I think maybe I should look at having my shoes on the bike and running barefoot to the mount line Bike
Comments: I train in South Louisiana and its flat; Very few flat spots on the course; either up or down. It began to ran at the end of the first loop and so I decided I would not push downhill or corners due to the rain. Second loop on congress I didn't switch to the big cog (mental error). Ran stopped just before I started the final loop and the sun began to beam down. What would you do differently?: besides the rain I enjoyed the course, to bad it didn't stay dry to put the hammer down. Drink more fluids, which caught up to me at the end of the race/ post race. I strayed from my plan and didn't finish my water or accelerade. Transition 2
Comments: It rained during the bike, so the ground was somewhat wet, not muddy but just enough to let the dirt stick to your feet. Cleaned my feet off best I could and put socks on and shoes What would you do differently?: drink the remaining accelerade from my bottle Run
Comments: Started off on the run and immediately notice my thighs are trying to cramp up, fighting this off and choosing a steady pace. Mentally I thought it may be the uneven ground that is causing the thighs to cramp a bit and when I hit the pavement it would stop and it did. Mile 1 just over 8 minutes feeling good. 5 to go. Its now hot and humid but taking water and sports drink at the stations. Just before mile 3 see my wive, sister and nephews; little boost. Pace is still steady but slowing. I finished just over an hour. What would you do differently?: I need speed work for running, The run portion of the tri is my weak spot and its time to make the extra step to be faster Post race
Warm down: Sipped my water and met my family members, told them I needed some fruit and to cool down. walked over to the table and grabed a bananna and watermelon, moved over to the shade. Started sweating provusely and light headed, told my wive I needed to get ice. 3 or 4 steps or staggers, everything got blury and I hit the ground; face first. a BIG THANK YOU to the volunteers that rushed over to assist. Espically the nice lady wearing the pink tye dye shirt. EMT's came over and loaded me on the stretcher and rolled me to the medical tent. Ice Packs, fruit and shade....BP returned to normal, pulse good and blood sugar good. Spent about 40 minutes icing down and said thank you to the staff and gather my gear from transition and walked back to the condo. What limited your ability to perform faster: I didn't take enough electrolytes during the race, which later cost me an embarrassing ride to medical Event comments: Thank you to the volunteers (pink tye dye lady), THANK YOU to the EMT's and MEDICAL TENT Volunteers. To bad it didn't rain during the run, this was a fun race and will do it again and hopefully not with a trip to medical. Last updated: 2010-09-08 12:00 AM

4:50 woke up and ate a boiled egg and watermelon. Walked from the condo to the event about 1 mile +/-. Body marked and set up transition.
No warm-up swim, so I sat with my wive by the Stevie Ray Vaughan Statue and waited for my wave to start.
