Swim
Comments: I actually considered calling the lifeguard for the first 200m. I think the water was colder than the last race at Elwood, and I really wanted to get out. My chest was tight, I could hardly breathe, I was lifting my head every stroke. I really hurt and struggled. After rounding the turning buoy, something happened and I was ok. I just came good, and shot off. Woot. What would you do differently?: I should have spent more time with my head in the water. It didn't shock my like last time, but I still hated it. Transition 1
Comments: Only thing was... I lost my bike. for a whole DAMN MINUTE. Dammit. I could have been so fast here. What would you do differently?: Remember which row my damn bike was in, shit. Bike
Comments: I went pretty fast for me, let's be honest. PB for a bike time, I even went 50 seconds faster than my friend Anna. But I was still a bad rank overall. I get to work on this over winter. I also forgot my gel to have at 15km, so that was a bit dumb. I needed that for the run. What would you do differently?: Not a lot. I did well for me. Transition 2
Comments: I think I need to ditch the socks. The thing that slows me down here is the jelly legs. I just can't run fast in bare feet with the bike, I sook when I step on prickles and rocks. I am maybe thinking I should swim with socks on. Sure, the socks would be squishy, but at least I wouldn't be sooking about soft feet. What would you do differently?: Just move faster. Not use socks. Run
Comments: Fail. Just fail. The ankle hurt. I didn't have enough energy... but it's ok. What would you do differently?: Gels. Better ankle tape. Post race
Warm down: Talking to other people and walking around. It was the first time I had ever finished in time to see the presentations!! What limited your ability to perform faster: Injury. Lack of nutrition (I forgot gatorade on the bike as well, I only had water) and just overall ability ;) Fact is, I made a PB by 3 and a bit minutes. Can't complain about that, even though I was last. Again. Event comments: Fantastic weather, and I knew the course. Bonus! Last updated: 2010-09-09 12:00 AM

Up a little later than normal, they've started pushing the races back a little due to the end of summer and the sun not coming up as early.
I went out last night for my friends birtday and unfortunately got home late, but I still didn't want to get out of bed even with a little sleep in.
I had a couple of mini hot cross buns for breakfast rather than honey on toast (seemed to work at Geelong) and headed off to get Anna and head to the race.
Not a lot again. Bit of a paddle.
I don't think I am ever going to be a pre-race warm up person. The swim is my warm up!
