Swim
Comments: What a horrible swim after the first 200. I started drifting to the right and didn't spot worth a darn. TWICE I found myself 25 to 50 meters right of my nearest competitor. SOOOOO not how I wanted to start the race. What would you do differently?: Stay on the inside so that there is always someone to bump into and keep you on track. Transition 1
Comments: Not good, not horrible. Needed to shake the frustration of my swim and put it behind me. Bike
Comments: Not a bad ride. I had been tinkering with where I wanted to stay gear wise in the rides leading up to this race and I think I settled in about 1/2 way through. Saw the most ambulances I've seen on course. There was some road kill and a few potholes to dodge and I guess some people hit them. What would you do differently?: Settle in quicker. Transition 2
Comments: Need to sit my rear down to put the shoes on. Ugh. How many times do I have to tell myself this before I'll just do it? Run
Comments: My legs were fried for some reason 1/2 way through. Just heavy and dead. I'm really surprised I was as fast as I was. I really like the change in scenery from running around the lake to through the neighborhood to down the side of the bayou. What would you do differently?: Not much. Hydrate better on the ride so my legs aren't toast on the run. Post race
Warm down: Quick 1/4 mile jog and hugs and kisses for my little girls. What limited your ability to perform faster: Poor mental preparation. Poor hydration. Have to get a handle on this before I get out to longer distances. Event comments: Good race. Will probably do again next year. Last updated: 2010-09-13 12:00 AM

Downed a cup of coffee and some oatmeal and off to the race I went. Got there, checked in, set up my transition and got my timing chip. Popped the old headphones in and I was zoned until 7 when transition was supposed to close. Turns out since parking was near a mile from the transition area they closed it late.
Little bit of bare foot jogging and a whole lot of visualization.
