Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 5, had some toast with honey and coffee. Headed down to the race site, got there about 6am.
Event warmup:

Rode a couple of miles, ran down to the swim start. Had a gel then got in the water about 7:20 to warm up.
Swim
  • 21m 43s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

Average swim, not as much current as I would have thought. No problems sighting, caught someone towards the end of Harbour Island and stayed on their feet.
What would you do differently?:

Found someone to draft off of earlier.
Transition 1
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

No problems, ran back to the TA and passed a few people on the way.
What would you do differently?:

Nada
Bike
  • 32m 39s
  • 12.43 miles
  • 22.84 mile/hr
Comments:

First race I have ever done that I did not get passed by anyone on the bike, very happy with that. There were a couple of unfortunate sections where passing was not possible, got hung up a couple of times. I don't mind slower riders, but if you could see that you were holding someone up, wouldn't you at least try and pick up the pace a little?
What would you do differently?:

Sight better so that I could have avoided some of the bike traffic right before the no passing zones.
Transition 2
  • 00m 56s
Comments:

Good T2, I had a great rack for this race, 1st set of racks so it was easy to find.

Run
  • 22m 42s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 18s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt like I had a good run, ran down a few people in my AG, felt good. Only got passed twice, once by Andrea, and the other was David, who's in my AG. Tried to hang with him but he beat me by 10 seconds.
What would you do differently?:

Not the greatest run, about the same time as last year. I was shooting for somewhere in the 21-22 minute range.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched a little, Mary needed help cutting up fruit, stocking water, so I did that for a while.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Overall very happy with this race, 2 minutes slower than last year but last year was wetsuit legal. I went into this race knowing it was the last race of the season and I wanted to have no regrets, so that was my mantra for the race.

Event comments:

Love this race, perfect weather, great day. Great way to end the season and now I'm looking forward to some time off!
