Swim
Comments: Not sure how to enter this but I was 32nd out of 403 in my age group. Overall I was very happy with the swim. I felt great throughout the swim. What would you do differently?: The only thing I would o differently is paint lines on the bottom of the lake to help several people swim remotely straight. I swear there were tons of people swimming 'S' patterns Transition 1
Comments: The T1 time is slow I know but if you've never seen IMWI transition you won't understand. This race is actually about 142.6 miles due to all of the transition running. Trust me there is at least a mile of transition running. What would you do differently?: rent a golf cart to move me in transition. Bike
Comments: Overall I thought the bike went well...I wish I could have had a better average but the hills were wearing on me. My bike computer said I averaged 18mph but the auto calc says 17.8. Transition 2
Comments: My right foot had a super bad sting in in when I got off the bike...no clue why but it wasn't fun. Run
Comments: The run is where everything fell apart. I ran the first 3 miles at about a 9 min pace. everything seemed good then instant disorientation and nausea. At one point I was so disoriented I couldn't even read the other competitiors shirts or signs on the side of the roads. It was a little scary at times, I'd never experienced anything like this before. No kidding it took me another 7-10 miles to get my gut calmed down. Pretty sure it was the Hammed Perform drink. Once I figured it out and drank some chicken broth and coke I was much better and was able to manage 12:30's. The run was a true battle and I admit there were a few times I thought my body was gonna say no more and completely shut down. I never once allowed myself to stop moving forward. I knew if I stopped it was game over. Post race
Event comments: I learned a really hard lesson with this race....always always always trained regularly with the fluids served on the course. ugh this was one hard learned lesson. There is a reason IRONMAN is called the worlds hardest single day endurance event. I love challenging myself ..... but I still don't know what my limits are, I was close with this one but suprised myself once again. Last updated: 2010-09-14 12:00 AM

I really didn't have any routine to follow, just tried to stay calm and enjoy the moment. I did however take a bath in body glide and chamos butter. No chaffing here.
Treading water for 15 minutes was enough warm-up for me.
