Run
Comments: Running on gravel is kind of like running on sand..definitly slowed me down but not a big deal since everyone had to go through it. All in all a really good run for me. I had 2 women ahaead of me..caught the second one right as we ran into transition What would you do differently?: Suggest not running on gravel the next time around :) Transition 1
Comments: I took my time putting my shoes on here...I have found over the season that if something doesn't feel just right then it bugs me the whole bike. I was determied to rock the ride so the extra couple of seconds it took to get the velcor just right was worth it. What would you do differently?: Goal for next year is to learn to start with my shoes clipped in..that should be interesting :) Bike
Comments: My goal was to go Z5 the whole ride and I did. I pushed it as hard as I could from T1 all the way. The hills kicked my azz but they did to everyone. Multiple people commented after the race how hard the bike course was. I am very pleased with how it went. What would you do differently?: Goal for next year is to get more comfy in aero - last couple races I just have not felt confident enough to stay in it. Transition 2
Comments: This was pathetic! I am surpised it wasn't longer! I had the hardest time racking my bike..I was pretty spent from pushing so hard and I was fumbling all over the place with the stupid thing. Finally got it racked, threw off my helmet, pulled on my shoes and did a running start, visor in hand. What would you do differently?: Pretty obvious from comments above Run
Comments: Pretty good run here - had a few guys in front of me and caught them. Saw the lead women but I was too far behind to catch them. What would you do differently?: Pave the gravel path Post race
Warm down: Took me a while to catch my breath...snuck some pretzels and cookies for my kids...drank a ton of water. Event comments: This is my last race of the season. I gave it everything I had and for a late season race I am extremley happy with the results. Mentally I had focus that I haven't had the last couple of races and it felt great to have that drive again. Took 5th female OA. This was also the last race of the RACC Duathlon series - I ended up 1st in my AG and I think 5th OA in the series as well. Last updated: 2010-09-14 12:00 AM

9:00 start time which is the pretty late. Did my usual warm -up at home to get awake, ate, Mt. Dew :), drove to the race which was only about 10 minutes away. I had gotten my race # the day before. I was #1...guess that would be wave 1:). Had a great space in Transition - right at the bike in/bike out. Freezing cold so I spent most of the pre-race at the race time inside chatting with some of my friends. Peeled off extra layers at the last second and handed them off to my husband and kids who much appreciated the later start time.
I did a little bit of running to stay warm.
