Run
Comments: There were plenty of aid stations along the way. I drank two cups of water at the second aid station, and that was too much, and I sloshed a little, but I equalised it by not having anything at the third aid station. I was fine after that. I by no means ran the whole way. Nor was a fast. But I found a rhythm, and I kept going. This was the first time I realised that I might actually enjoy running. Singing along a little to my music, running along, just getting used to things, looking around... One of the ladies commented that I was really loud and she heard me coming (man, it was humid, I am asthmatic, and 15kg overweight, of course you heard me!!) but who cares. I beat her :P What would you do differently?: Not a lot to be honest. I was pretty happy with it. I think I probably could have ran a little more than I did (I ran pretty much 95% of the time) and if I had have worn a decent pair of socks I would have been fine! (Bad blisters, I will upload a photo later) Post race
Warm down: I just grabbed my showbag and walked back to the car. It was probably an 800m walk back, up a hill. And I didn't get a parking ticket, score! What limited your ability to perform faster: My head most likely. I think I did pretty well. I almost made the time I set myself, and this was 18 minutes faster than my last 10km. I am getting there :) Event comments: I will do this race again next year. It was a good event/ Last updated: 2010-09-16 12:00 AM

I attended this event on my own (first one, lol, go me!!) and didn't really want to get out of bed.
I made it to the place, because I had been there for a tri a few weeks ago, found a park, but the parking meter wouldn't take my money until 8am... but I would already be running by then!! So I took my chances and left the car there without a ticket.
Walk over the to event area to collet my race kit, and forgot that I ordered a hat... I already had one on!!
I visited the porta-potty, and thought that my mp3 player had run out of batteries and swore at it.
Turns out I had hit pause, lol. Thankfully, it lasted the entire run!!
We did a mass aerobics session in the park. Do you know how hard it is to follow an instructor with 5000+ other people???
