Swim
Comments: The Atlantic ocean clearly did not want me in it. I'm a strong swimmer but I got beaten down by the surf. After being knocked down by the waves a couple of times and having the ocean steal my left contact lens I was okay. I ended up hanging out and treading for a bit because I got off course (couldn't see without contacts) but once I figured out where I was supposed to go I was fine. What would you do differently?: Perhaps getting in the water and swimming more than twice in 5 years would have been helpful. That and learning how to enter the surf. Transition 1
Comments: I sat and had a lovely conversation with the two ladies next two me in the transition area. What would you do differently?: I suppose I should have been transitioning and not chatting. Bike
Comments: Straight up and back....Nice tailwind on the way up and a nasty headwind on the way back. What would you do differently?: I did the bike part in the low profile running shoes. My arches are still not happy. I'm switching the clipless pedals. Transition 2
Comments: I did this really well. Run
Comments: OMG....do I hate to run. This felt soooo awful. It was like the run that never ended. Once again, maybe I should have trained for this thing. What would you do differently?: Training. I should have trained. Effective immediately...I will start going on runs. I will learn to like running. Post race
Warm down: 6 puffs of albuterol and then free beer. What limited your ability to perform faster: the utter lack of training Event comments: I had a lot of fun. Everyone was very helpful. I managed to finish. I got free beer and then I got decent shopping in tax free Delaware. Great first triathlon to get bit by the triathlon bug. Last updated: 2010-09-19 12:00 AM
