vaseline on feet helped, but forehead screamed in pain for first 100m due to cold temp, making me panic, serious thoughts that I couldn't make it because it wasn't feeling better.
What would you do differently?:

Wear 2 swim caps or purchase cold water swimming headgear

the person next to me on the bike rack scattered all of my running gear which was slightly frustrating, didn't let it get to me.

Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

improper head gear for swim
3 week vacation followed by 2 weeks to get ready for race

Event comments:

Friendly crowd, friendly competitors, many parents sneaking out to race and head back to kids sports events for the afternoon. You could hear a pin drop (plus the birds singing in the woods) during the national anthem. Since this race supports the IM ABLE foundation for veterans, a heart warming start to the race. Additionally they had a spin class for spectators during the race, along with hand cranks for the physically challenged. Great way to start the season.
