Total Time = 2h 26m 59s
Overall Rank = 78/
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 14/56
Pre-race routine:

Woke up had normal breakfast and drove the 15-20 minutes from our rental. This race is a later than normal start, which is nice. I found myself with extra time on my hands once I got to the venue.
Event warmup:

Light running and a few hundred yards in the water. Should have rode bike (see details later).
Swim
  • 24m 59s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Had trouble sighting the second buoy. Other than that it was an average swim.
What would you do differently?:

Probably kicked more. I found myself not using my legs.
Transition 1
  • 01m 55s
Comments:

Horrible T1. Wetsuit stuck on heels and I almost fell over trying to get it off. Had to slow myself down to get it off.
Bike
  • 1h 13m 4s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 20.41 mile/hr
Comments:

As I said in my warmup review. I should have rode during warmups. Coming out of the park my gears were slipping, so I jumped off to adjust it (wasted 30 seconds). Next hill, same thing, jump off again (wasted 30 more seconds). Next big hill, you guessed it, jumped off and made another adjustment (this time it took a good minute). Finally it was okay to get me through the rest of the ride.
Probably the worst ride of the season for me. Mentally, the mechanical mishap killed me.
What would you do differently?:

Checked my bike out before hand.
Transition 2
  • 01m 21s
Comments:

Much better than T1. Even had time to grab extra sips of water.
Run
  • 45m 44s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 22s  min/mile
Comments:

Was coming off another calf injury (I now think it's an achilles issue) so I went out slow. I had moments where I ran well but all in all it was an average at best run for me. Usually I run in the high 6's at this distance.
What would you do differently?:

Ran harder. Last race of the year for me so why not.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretch and drank water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bike issues and tentative with leg issue on the run.

Event comments:

Probably my favorite race to date. Will definitely be back next year. Beautiful race venue.

Course: Fun run course. Great crowd support at miles 2 and 4. There were two kids spraying runners down at someones house. I was a little disappointed with the finishing area. It felt like I had just finished a training run, not much crowd support there.
