Swim
  • 08m 55s
  • 547 yards
  • 01m 38s / 100 yards
Comments:

Great swim for me. I had estimated 9 mins and had under that even with the run to the mat. Pace was good, easily passed a few people and didn't get passed.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 00m 51s
Comments:

Got my helmet and shoes on fast, grabbed the bike and ran through transition....when I got to the mount line I realized I was on the wrong side of my bike. Still did a flying mount, just not as steady as from the other side.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure my bike was on the other side.
Bike
  • 37m 31s
  • 12 miles
  • 19.19 mile/hr
Comments:

Not my best bike. I guess being without a bike for several weeks hurt me more than I though. Battling the wind was demotivating. I still took 2 and a half minutes off last years time even with the wind so I will still take the improvement.
What would you do differently?:

I should have ridden in my drops more with the wind. I should have hammered harder when going with the wind.
Transition 2
  • 00m 43s
Comments:

Forgot garmin and had to reach over bars to grab it. The started running towards last years run exit, they had moved it and I didnt realize. Lucky I only had gone a few steps so didnt cost me a lot of time. This transition could have been more like 30 seconds about.
What would you do differently?:

grab garmin while running through transition, pay more attention to transition.
Run
  • 25m 40s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 15s  min/mile
Comments:

Started off slow, couldnt find my legs. about a mile in started really dialing in my pace. Felt like I pushed as much as I could and didn't leave anything out on the course. Took over 5 minutes off last years run.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

water water water and some bananas

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Wind on the bike, and overall run fitness.

Event comments:

Everything was good except they only did packet pickup on race morning. They had a few lines by last name A-F, etc. Well only several off the lines had no wait...and the A-F had a huge line. Guess which one I was in. Over 30 mins in line. I felt a little rushed getting transition ready and bathroom break pre race.

Race was hella competitive. 5 of the top 10 overall were in my age group. Still a great race and I had a blast. It was a nice test too see how much I improved on my first year doing multisport.
