Total Time = 12h 38m 12s
Overall Rank = 308/881
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 41/119
Pre-race routine:

Sleep, Hydrate, - pre-drove the bike course the day before. Took things as easy as possible.
Event warmup:

Didn't get a chance. Waited in lines, body marked, put on wet suit, made sure equipment was ready and then swam.
Swim
  • 1h 13m 19s
  • 4224 yards
  • 01m 44s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim for me. Quite a bit of contact and catching up with other groups and some others passing me.
What would you do differently?:

Pre-swim one lap to find the shallow spots. Faster to swim than walk and there are better channels for swiming
Transition 1
  • 04m
Comments:

Long transition and people were just walking on the carpet and stopping to take pictures. Decided to run up the hill before riding and that was tough because my shoes were slick.
What would you do differently?:

Ride from bottom of hill.
Bike
  • 6h 37m 49s
  • 112 miles
  • 16.89 mile/hr
Comments:

Great ride. I rode by RPE and kept things sane. No problems at all on the bike
What would you do differently?:

Not pee as much. Stopped at all the aid stations but 2 and was in quite a bit of discomfort on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 02m 57s
Comments:

Nice transition but once again. People were walking ahead of me and it was long and so I had to be patient.
Run
  • 4h 40m 7s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 10m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

I walked the hills and aid stations that I used. Ran the rest. Several porta potty stops. No pain or cramps, just fatigue.
What would you do differently?:

Wished I ran more and the whole thing but with the IT band issues weeks before I just took it conservative.
Post race
Warm down:

Ate food, smiled a lot, hung out with family.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Having to pee all the time. I think I was cold and nervous and wasn't sweating as much as I typically do.

Event comments:

Great race - the pre and post race is good. Organized. Fun expo and it was nice for my family. Would do it again.

Course: 3 loops. Very hilly and crowded. A lot of aid stations which kind of is good and bad. Each loop you get a bracelet right before the finish line. When you get two, you get to cross! Much harder course and a few areas where it is a bit tight due to being mixed with the run course.
