Swim
Comments: Swim was great. Wetsuit was awesome! Found a groove and just cruised. The swim is really easy for me, being a ex swimmer. Had a couple times where I got off course but not to bad. found a guys feet and just cruised behind them catching their draft. What would you do differently?: N/A Transition 1
Comments: T1 was a lot better than my first sprint last year. I was in T1 for like 4 minutes. I have no idea what i was doing. I decided that I was going to do the bike sockless so I think that helped with time. Not to bad of a T1. What would you do differently?: get a tri top that I could wear under my wetsuit. i wasted sometime putting on my tri-top. Bike
Comments: Bike was ok. I thought while riding I was really doing well and had a good pace but now that I look back at it, I could have done so much more. Now granted we had a nice headwind on the back side of the course but I should have taken advantage of the tailwinds more. Overall the bike was ok. at first my legs felt horrible but they loosened up and we were ready to go. Nutrition was spot on. I had a gel per lap and the final lap I took in more I think 2. Water and Gatorade as well. What would you do differently?: HAMMER IT more. I should have taken advantage of the tailwinds and just put my head down and let it all go. Transition 2
Comments: t2 was perfect. Socks on shoes on helmet off and boom we are gone. What would you do differently?: N/A Run
Comments: Flat out this needs work. I walked way to much I lost a lot on this. I had a great lead on some people and ended up loosing it during the run. I was having issues with my hips. I can do a much faster half, so this winter I am working on my running form and strength in my hips What would you do differently?: More strength training for the run. I am not a strong runner so I need to work on this discipline over the off season. Post race
Warm down: Walked around felt the rath of the day and packed the car and we were gone. Event comments: HFP puts on a great race. This is my 2nd ever Triathlon so it was good. i did a sprint last year at deer creek and then the HIM this year. So it was good to see where I was at with this distance. I really love this distance so I will be trying to find more races at the 70.3 distance. Now it is time to go back to the drawing board and start working on my limiters over the winter. Woke up around 6:30. My wife and my family stayed in the park at a cabin so it was nice. Woke up had some breakfast watched the news and watched the sun come up across the lake.
Got to the race around 8 or so. set up transition and walked around and tried to find my family. Put my wetsuit on and walked to the water. Man was it cold.
