Swim
Comments: Goggles fogged up, had to stop and clear several times. What would you do differently?: Maybe different goggles. Transition 1
Comments: Used the suit strippers, ran out of transition in bike shoes. Had a little trouble getting footing on the pedal after jumping on. What would you do differently?: Practice bike mounting. Bike
Comments: I went out maybe a little fast in the first 25, after calming down I just road for quite some time. In the future a tri bike would be a big help. What would you do differently?: Just more mileage. Transition 2
Comments: Took a little extra time to put on water bottles and garmin. Over all I still felt pretty fast through here. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: Started hitting the wall at mile 10.38. The spectators were great, they really cheer you on. My wife and I carry a cow bell to my daughters softball game and someone on the course was ringing one what an uplifting noise. Its funny how a little thing like that can help pull you along :o) What would you do differently?: What can I say, more run and brick training. Mileage is everything. Post race
Warm down: I went back to swim beach and soaked in the lake. What limited your ability to perform faster: Living to hard years ago. Event comments: I read all the comments and blogs about this race and I do disagree with the folks who say there weren't enough volunteers and aid stations. I was out there for a long time and there was prenty of people helping out. For my first experience in a half distance race this was first rate. From the reasonalbe cost to all the help and aid to a first rate site this was one of the highlights of my life! If you are in the midwest and can get to it this is a race for you.
