Pre-race routine:

Bout got hit by an apparent drunk driver on the way to the race. That was exciting. Couldnt reach my phone to call the police so just pulled over and let him pass
Event warmup:

Not much- had forgotten my water bottles at the house so had to get Gatorade and water on the way. Did light stretching and swam a couple warm up laps to make sure goggles were ok.
Swim
  • 03m 59s
  • 250 yards
  • 01m 35s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good swim. Was actually slower than last year. Goggles did fill up and had to empty once at about lap 8. Rest of the swim was good. Too short though to take advantage of any advantage I may have on the swim.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure goggle straps are situated correctly.
Transition 1
  • 02m 21s
Comments:

Shoes were still strapped when I came into transition. Had to unstrap to put shoes on. Didnt get clipped in real well.
What would you do differently?:

Practice
Bike
  • 35m 27s
  • 10 miles
  • 16.93 mile/hr
Comments:

My time was just a little better than last year so I would have sworn I did better on this. I didnt wear a watch but it felt like I did better than this. That ride was over almost as soon as it started.
What would you do differently?:

Guess I gotta ride more. That much I do know.
Transition 2
  • 02m 17s
Comments:

Didnt have my shoes untied. Just another step I had to do I shouldnt have had to. I do need to practice this. I never have and shaving even :30 per Transition would help AG and overall.
What would you do differently?:

See above
Run
  • 28m
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m  min/mile
Comments:

Im slow. I know it. But 28 min on a 5k is good for me. Plus I didnt push at all. Just found a comfortable pace and stayed with it. I did walk the water station while I took a small cup. Should just skip one altogether. It is only a 5k. Also, had to tie each shoe on seperate occasions. That might have added another :30.
What would you do differently?:

Getting better and faster on the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, drank Powerade Zero (hey you gave me a couple of bottles so I will give you some props). Had a half bagel and banana.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Inconsistent training after White Lake. Should have biked more since then.

Event comments:

I like this race. This was the first race I ever did 3 years ago and will keep doing it.
