Swim
Comments: Water was nice and warm. Felt like jumping into a pool of pee. Veered off course right from the start. This poor life guard had to paddle out a long way to shepherd me in. I told her I couldn't see the lane lines at the bottom. Ended up swimming at least a third of a mile on this 1/4 mile course. Money's worth!!! What would you do differently?: I need to attend some Tri clinics. Learn to swim in straight lines, swim with my head out of the water and learn how to compensate for current. Transition 1
Comments: My fine motor skills were gone by the time I got back to the rack. I tried to wipe down the water but it didn't bring any feeling back to my frozen fingers. I fumbled putting my shirt on which kept sticking to my wet body. I fumbled putting my helmet, gloves and shades on. I fumbled with my socks and shoes. I was lucky I even got started. People who ran in after me AND had cluncky wetsuits on were gone before I got my shoes on. Embarrasing. What would you do differently?: Everything. I'd probably get a toe clip and ride barefoot. Switch my underarmor cling-to-your body shirt for something that's easier to slip into or just ride bare back! Bike
Comments: This roller coaster was a lot more fun for me on my 49/15 fixed gear bike. Avg. cadence: Yes What would you do differently?: Here's where I should say, "get a tri bike". Nah! I'll stick with my fixie. In other words, nothing. Transition 2
Comments: This one was better than the first. But getting my bike shoes off and putting my run shoes on took time. What would you do differently?: Bike and run with the same shoes on or barefeet. Run
Comments: This was pleasant also. Just like the bike leg had been. Saw some people I knew but I couldn't stop and chat... had to run! What would you do differently?: Again... nothing. Post race
Warm down: What warm down? The kids were frozen stiff waiting for me. Had to get them to a warm place quick. Some of the contestants came over to shake my hand for being that nut who swam without a wetsuit on. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of experience. This was my second tri. Event comments: This only being my second was much better organized than the first one. Which was by the shore and the waves were huge!!! I had a good time. The kids complained a lot. Overall a good family experience!!! Gotta do it again next year. Last updated: 2010-10-04 12:00 AM

Yelled at the kids for not hurrying up. Can't remember what I ate but I ate something. Yelled some more. Packed everyone up and left. Everyone included the wife and the 3 brats. Didn't have to go too far. I live in the same town. Set up bike on rack when I got there. Fence was not allowed! Went to pee. Found out that they had cut the swim down to 1/4 mile.
What event warmup? Had to hop up and down just to stay warm. The line to pee was long too. Almost missed the starting line.
