Pre-race routine:

Woke up to spooky halloween music. Ha- Tracy and I spent an hour listening to ringtones the night before so the wake up ringtone was well planned:)
Went to starbucks and had some larabar. I had 2 next time I will only have one... I felt kind of still sitting in my stomach during the race- or eat even earlier...personally Id rather sleep and eat less!
Had some no explode (that obviously didnt do its purpose;))

Event warmup:

Did a short warm up with a few pick ups and seeded ourselves fairly close to the front.

Hmmmmm..... OK I havent done a hm since spring of 08, since then I have done 2 IM, 2 marathons, and multiple HIM. A pr was almost ineveitable but I wanted to have a 5 min pr. Was training to try to break 1:40. I even did an 11 mile pace run at this pace and yes it was hard but I still did it.
The week prior I kind of wondered if I should try to hit my goal or be alittle more realistic and aim for 7:40s or 7:50s..... I obviously dont have a lot of confidence as a runner and it shows :(

Oh well decided I wont know til I try. So....First mile 7:30..ok a bit fast but not horrible... 2cnd mile 7:31...ok...well I feel ok. Then came some hills and the pace was getting in the 7:40s then 7:30s.
We got to an out and back part around mile 4 maybe so I counted the girls ahead of me just for fun.....6.... woah.... I am in 6th place! Pretty good for a nonrunner:)
Had gel around this time and some water.
I think instead of letting this build my confidence I let it make me believe I wasnt really suppose to be there... that I really dont run the fast.
By mile 8 I wasnt feeling it at all... pace dropped to high 7s and low 8s... ugh.
Got really windy here too.
Got to an aid station garbbed a water and stopped turned around and was gonna wait for Tracy... I figured that would be a great friend fo me cuz my race was sucking anyways. But I didnt see her so I decided to go. While I was standing there it felt long but Im guessing it was only 20 25 seconds.
Really should have had another gel around miles 9 or 10 but didnt...figured my race sucked anyways so why bother- duh me.
struggled thru the last few miles...kind of gave up... ugh why do I do this??
What would you do differently?:

Start a little slower,have much more confidence, take my 2cnd gel.
Post race
Warm down:

Waited for my girl Tracy- who smoked her first half!!!
Then I pouted and was a huge baby cuz I dint hit my goal:( I did pr by 4 minutes.
Went back and showered then came back and saw some marathon finishers, had some pizza and saw I was 3rd in my AG. If I would have hit my goal I would have benn 1st. damn.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

confidence maybe. be realistic maybe?

They did a great job putting on this race!!
Would do it again for sure.
Course was hillier then I had expected.
