Swim
Comments: I had a great swim that exceeded my expectations. I stayed far wide of the buoys and had very little contact as a result. I swam my swim for sure - I felt strong and assured. I didn't feel like I was the fastest in the water, but I sure felt strong and that was a great way to start the day. What would you do differently?: Not one thing. Transition 1
Comments: All of the above doesn't apply. I took my time really - wanted to get it right. Had someone apply sunblock also - she missed a spot oops. I was so out of it when I came out of the water, the strippers even took the sleeves of my wetsuit off of me. It was a mother daughter team and they were so very nice. Which was awesome because I was waterlogged. Bike
Comments: my way way high reach goal was 7 hours on the bike. I was really happy with this. I could have pushed harder. But again, being the first time - I was really trying to be smart. I was nauseated for most of it. I have lots of other gory details in my blog, this is enough for this report - I was very happy with the results of my bike. What would you do differently?: Work out the nutrition kinks. Transition 2
Comments: Let the volunteer help me through it all. Making sure to be ready for a long run. What would you do differently?: Nada Run
Comments: This was where the Ironman experience hit me. I was doing awesome until mile 18 when I started to lose my awesome pace that I'd had going. Then mile 20 I had to walk. Then mile 21 I had to throw up. My legs were buckling and I was afraid I was done. I kept asking myself questions to test and make sure I was lucid. I was, so I kept on walking. Slow at first, then I picked it up. Walked with a fellow athlete for a bit that really helped. Tried the "magic" chicken stock. Finally mile 24 I ran it home. What would you do differently?: Not a thing. Isn't that funny? I'd even hit the wall again. Post race
Warm down: Haha - well, does a trip to the medical tent count as a cool down? Lots of walking around first - but then I still was very nauseated and didn't want to eat - so just popped in to have vitals taken and make sure I was okey dokey before heading home. Funny part was - I gained weight. LOL Event comments: This was my first Ironman experience and I loved it from beginning to end. It was amazing. Last updated: 2010-10-06 12:00 AM

Shake, freak out, verge of tears, repeat. haha. woke up in the middle of the night to have some fruit juice and half a granola bar. Then woke up in what felt like the middle of the night again (4 something) to have oatmeal and banana and milk. Took a quick shower to wake up and walked up to transition to drop off my special needs bags.
None.
