Age Group Rank = 179/465
Pre-race routine:

woke up at 4AM, prepared oatmeal and coffee, showered and then ate and drank coffee.
Event warmup:

no real warm-up, just standing muscle activation
Run
  • 2h 11m 21s
  • 21.1 kms
  • 06m 14s  min/km
Comments:

Weather was perfect, cool and overcast at start, mild wind for the first half. Second half the wind started to pick up and when along the ocean and going downhill it was at times harder than going uphill. There were way too many participants, causing congestion in many areas and forcing a slower pace. I had no GI issues, so getting up a little early to eat and have some coffee really paid off.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, I had a good run, felt great.
Post race
Warm down:

fell down on the warm-down, stood in long line ups to get food/drink and didn't stretch it out.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

congestion, and gale force winds.

Event comments:

It's a great course, but way too many participants, especially in the areas where we had to share the road on loop backs. The finish line food was all too sweet, nothing salty provided. Volunteers were great, but the aid stations were too few and oddly spaced. the one nutrition station did not have chocolate gels?? I will choose to do a different race next year.
