Swim
Comments: Went too slow. Period. I got distracted by the cold, the length of the pool, the pool itself. I was in my head too much thinking about not going too hard, where is the wall, how fast in that guy next to me going, etc., etc. What would you do differently?: Go faster Transition 1
Comments: Kind of a longish run from pool to bike, then I put on a long sleeve tech shirt What would you do differently?: Maybe not put on the shirt, or go with a zip up one. Also, I was wearing my garmin wrist strap because I wanted my HR numbers. Shirt got snagged a bit there Bike
Comments: Feel pretty good about the bike segment. I had ridden the course a couple of times so I knew what to expect but it wasn't windy the day I rode. I had to get out of aero a couple of times due to crosswinds, and work harder riding into some headwinds What would you do differently?: Maybe not drink? I chose to get out of aero and coast to drink 2x. Also, maybe push harder the last half mile or so where there's a slight uphill towards the end. Transition 2
Comments: I ran out with my helmet on! First time for everything. Also, I could not feel my toes when I got off the bike; they were frozen. made it touchy to get the shoes on, but I went with no socks and Yankz, with some Vaseline in the shoe so they went on pretty quickly. What would you do differently?: Take my helmet off Run
Comments: I was surprised to see my first mile at an 8:02 pace. Felt like I was flying off the bike but I haven't done a brick in a while. The first mile is almost all uphill, but that means the last mile is almost all downhill. What would you do differently?: Do at least one brick before first race of the season Post race
Warm down: Eat, put on sweats, grab gear and head home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Thinking too much, worried too much about going too hard Event comments: I enjoyed this race, but didn't like the number of waves. People were still arriving as I was packing up to go home, and people were wandering around race areas while the race was underway. Still, it was close to home, very well supported, and a lot of fun. Considering I didn't taper at all (in the three day before the race I had 5.5 hours of training) getting 3rd AG and 20 OA was pretty darn good Last updated: 2010-10-14 12:00 AM

Up at 5:00, usual race day breakfast (PB, honey & banana on English Muffin), coffee, kid droppage, shower, dress, pack, out the door by 6:00
About 30 min drive to race site, set up, and wait. Swim wave was supposed to start at 7:30, didn't get going until 8:00 or so
Race swim was in and outdoor 50M pool at the Y, and they had an indoor pool for warm ups. I got in a good swim of a few hundred yards, different paces, different strokes, Then I waited. And waited. I got back in the pool a couple of times to keep warm, but still ended up freezing my butt off once I got outside
