Swim
Comments: Wave start from beach was a first, not too bad... Navigation to first turn was brutual, as we were swimming straight into a raising, blinding sun. No ability to spot bouy, just used the crowd I was swiming with to track to the bouy (actually ran into it).Easily navigated the remaining bouys. Water smelled fishy, made it hard to initially really lean into the water. Limited my legs usage till the last bit... What would you do differently?: Kick more, prep more Transition 1
Comments: Trouble getting wetsuit over the chip on the left ankle. Also, I was a bit qooze from going from horizontal to vertical. Cold feet, generally just numb and unable to get feet into cycling shoes. I attribute part of this also to the toe covers squeezing the shoes too. Bike
Comments: Was not prepared for the level of climbing we would do... Seemed like every downhill was in the shade and into the wind, major freeze. Every climb was in the sun. Net: I loved the climbs and hated the descents. What would you do differently?: Be more prepared to climb Transition 2
Comments: Did not trust my legs/feet for jumping off the bike. Struggled with numb feet, getting them into running shoes. What would you do differently?: Spin out legs more. Run
Comments: Brutal run, again not unwarned, but did not really believe how hard it would be to run. Starts off tough and gets better... What would you do differently?: Run faster Post race
Warm down: Guzzled a coke, cheered Alice into the finish... ate a bunch of orange slices and drank some water while waiting for the awards ceremony Event comments: Challenging race, and I'll be doing it again Last updated: 2010-10-18 12:00 AM

Up at 5:45 to get to 8am race start. Ate two cinamon mini-bagels and some coffee. Packed up the car, and headed to the race site.
Mostly just trying to stay warm and get transition setup.
