Run
Comments: So given the sinus problems, I decided to go out at 7:15 and see if I could hold that for the whole 15k. I figured I would have a decent shot at an AG award if I did that. The first 5k went pretty well, but my legs were definitely getting tired and I was probably not breathing great. I ended up slowing up a bit more for the 2nd 5k loop, to 7:45 miles and that was a little easier for me to maintain. It was a pretty fun course to run and I would love to see what I could do on it completely healthy. Just hung in there on the third loop and tried to sprint to the finish, but got edged at the last second :( What would you do differently?: Nada, this is what I could do on this given day under this set of conditions. Post race
Warm down: Walked around a bit, tried to choke down a hot dog but just didn't feel like eating, drank a lot, and stretched out. Headed home after 15 min. or so. What limited your ability to perform faster: Sinus cold and sore legs from a marathon last week... Event comments: This was a great race abd a really great time! Last updated: 2010-10-22 12:00 AM

I signed up for this way back when before I knew I would be doing the Des Moines marathon. Wasn't sure I would actually do it until Thursday because my legs were pretty sore. I also woke up with a bad sinus cold the morning of, so I just decided to not push it too hard and have fun. I haven't done a ton of cross-country running, but I have to say I enjoy it! Morning of, I just got up fairly late (thank you 10 AM start time!), had some breakfast, and drove down to the race site. It was overcast, a little drizzly, but also fairly warm.
Nothing really, this was just a have fun race for me...
