Pre-race routine:

Bagel and headed to the race (~ 1 hr drive)
Event warmup:

Set up transition and walked around then headed to swim start
Swim
  • 28m 30s
  • 1056 yards
  • 02m 42s / 100 yards
Comments:

This included a .4 mile run from swim out to T1. I was out of the water at about 24:30 and then put old shoes on for the run to T1

I stepped on something on the way to the start line but I never looked at my foot (see later in the report)
What would you do differently?:

Sight more--I think I was all over this course.......at one point I think I was almost perpendicular to everyone (ugh)
Transition 1
  • 01m 26s
Comments:

nice smooth T1 for me
What would you do differently?:

I think I have this down...next would be some flying mounts......
Bike
  • 50m 37s
  • 16 miles
  • 18.97 mile/hr
Comments:

stayed on the gas for most of the ride and was focus.
What would you do differently?:

need to find my speed....this will come with more time on the bike
Transition 2
  • 01m 26s
Comments:

this where I looked at my foot and realized I have a pretty deep cut in my foot. I decided to wear a sock on my foot with the cut for extra padding.
What would you do differently?:

need to work on making this quicker. Not sure how but will look into this in the off season ;)
Run
  • 17m 31s
  • 2 miles
  • 08m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

With the cut on my foot every other step hurt... I walked twice on the way out....then got my head on straight and ran home!!! I changed my gait to account for my foot.
What would you do differently?:

get my head on straight from the start (I need more confidence in my run and be able to push through the initial pain)and not cut my foot (ugghh)
Post race
Warm down:

hobbled around due to the gait change My foot really stiffened up after the race and I had trouble even walking

What limited your ability to perform faster:

cut/ gash in the bottom of my foot on the run.
confidence in my run and be able to push through the initial pain

Event comments:

Someone took my wetsuit from transition but by Sunday night it was all being taken care. :) This was accidently in the end

Good small race with a long swim but was good for my swim confidence
