Swim
Comments: Waves were started with appropriate amount of time between, so I did not feel rushed by people behind me. Tried diving under ropes, then touching wall and pushing off. Thought it helped quite a bit instead of my usual stop, touch, duck, catch breath and push off. Did not find I was having any trouble with breathing. Let one guy pass me I should not have. Ended up following him, but did not have quite enough to pass him. Good exit out of pool, ran to transistion area. What would you do differently?: Push a little more, get breathing even harder. Transition 1
Comments: Time for this transition I believe is added on to bike time. This was a slow T1. I am glad I can't see it. Everything was soaked, shoes, socks, shirt. Made it very difficult to put on. Tried to put on gloves, wasted about 30 seconds then decided to ditch them. Ran well with bike. Having trouble getting on while moving and getting feet in cages. Area and items were set up well. No problem there. What would you do differently?: Work on moving bike hop-on (there has got to be a better word for this). Bike
Comments: I can't seem to get the bike thing down. The only thing I can say it that is was very wet and very cold. I thought I was going at about 90-100 rpm, but people were still passing me and I passed no one. Legs felt very tired for 1st and last lap. 2nd was a bit easier, 3rd was the best but still hard. I was breathing hard and thighs were hurting. What would you do differently?: I need to focus next weeks of training on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Got a LARGE charlie horse in right calf on last lap as I almost fell of bike getting my leg marked. Was unable to run with bike. Also had a very hard time getting helmet undone due to cold fingers. Tried to pull it off head, that did not work. Nothing else to take off, race number already on. Think I grabbed a drink, but maybe not. What would you do differently?: When it is cold, maybe last little bit put hand in shirt to warm it so you can undo helmet. Run
Comments: Felt awfully funny starting run. Leg was still cramping so favoured left side. Legs just did not want to get into the run mode. Felt like I was going very slow and barely raising legs or lengthening stride. Think I was fairly consistent throughout. There was definitely no last mile sprint. What would you do differently?: Push harder. Post race
Warm down: They were kicking us out, so basically just went and grabbed my clothes and got changed. Jumped in car and took off. What limited your ability to perform faster: I really think the cold affected me. Just felt like my muscles weren't loosening up. Plus the uncertainty of the race proceeding or not really messed up my mind. Event comments: Not the organizations fault events were not on time, or that there were no after race activities. I think I could have done much better on this course in different circumstances. Last updated: 2006-02-23 12:00 AM

Had pizza night before. Tried to hydrate, did not do so well. Had cold pizza for breakfast (probably not good, but my cereal was still in the car). Had a great nights sleep, went to bed about 10ish, got up at 5:30.
Race got put on hold about 30 minutes in.....got me off track. Starting believing weather would be a factor, messed with my mental preparation.
Was freezing out so jumped in warm pool about 20 minutes early. Treaded water and did laps with very gentle breast stroke.
