Run
Comments: Overall, I was happy with this for my first marathon. I am by no means a fast runner so I was happy with my time. I enjoyed trying to stick to a pace. I started slowing down if I quit paying attention to the time. I was concerned about not being able to keep the pace the entire time but managed to do so. The course was staffed with tons of volunteers and plenty of fluids and gu/gel. What would you do differently?: I would do some more speed work and hills and challenge my speed on long runs. I may also do a 22 mile run. miles 21-24 were the most challenging. Post race
Warm down: I walked around a little and had pizza and an Island Wheat from Capital Brewery which tasted fantastic at this point. Also had some water. Had some recoverite when I got home and BBQ. Relaxed and went to a Halloween party for a few hours but my legs were pretty sore so turned in early. What limited your ability to perform faster: Limited time spent on speedwork traing, but I knew this. Happy with the pace I managed considering the training I put in. Event comments: This race was very well organized! There was plenty to drink and plenty of gu/gel. Lots od volunteers and plenty of people in costume. Maybe a few more hills than I desire, but maybe thats just me. :) Last updated: 2010-10-30 12:00 AM

I tired to get a good amount of sleep the week prior, eat extra carbs and drink extra fluids on Thursday and Friday before the race. Ate at Olive Garden the night before, although my stomach was a little upset.
Woke up around 6 am and had a Clif bar, water and gatorade. Walked the dog and changed clothes. Left around 645 am and picked up a friend. Got to the race about 715 am and sat in the car till about 730 am making we had everything and because it was a little chilly. Had a gatorade prime around 730. Hit the bathroom and got ready to start. Wore carpi tights, door county '09 shirt with two long sleeve underarmor shirts over it. Ear warmer and light weight gloves.
