Run
Comments: Race bibs were broke up into blue/gray depending upon if you live in a "northern" state or "southern" state/international. Overall, I think there were 700 marathoners. Ran first .9m with Shawn until he stopped and walked up the first killer hill to the peace light, so he gave me the go sign and I ran to catch k. Caught her in about 3 mins and ran the rest of her half marathon with her. Had a Great time running with K. Ran 1:55 for the first half, then dropped gears and went to about 11 min/mile to see if I could see Shawn. Wasn't sure if I'd turn around and run the rest with him, but he was about 40 mins back. Luckily, it was an o&b course, so I saw him at my mile 15, his mile 11 and started walking up another killer hill with him and for about .5 mile, gave him some of my gus (he was out), made sure he was good to go, then turned around and ran back. The rest of the way, I walked up the hills and through the aid stations because a wicked cramp hit my right thigh. I didn't want a repeat of NYC, so I decided to run/walk. Really helped. Saw Craig J. on his bike with 3 miles left and he provided some great company. I had some left in the tank, so with about .9 miles to go, I put it in high gear and finished well. What would you do differently?: train. only running a long of 14 miles and not running 3 weeks before the race was not the best idea. Post race
Warm down: hanging with family and friends at g-man and having a guiness. What limited your ability to perform faster: not training Event comments: very very hilly. good race for a small first time race. Last updated: 2010-10-30 12:00 AM
