Pre-race routine:

Waffles with peanut butter when I woke up and 1 gel 20 min before the start. Premedicated to control my asthma 4mg pill (albuterol) 1.5 hrs before start. Then one hit off of the inhaler 20 min before the start.

Comments:

I treated this just like a training run, because basically that is what it was. This was a significant milestone on my way to Half Iron in Sept. Pacing was just right, and asthma was under control. It was a great run.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe a bit more run volume.

Warm down:

Stretching,walking,hydrating. Slow bike ride the day after to work out the soreness.

Event comments:

Still waiting on the race results to be posted online, but it really does not matter. I finished a 1/2 marathon which is the longest I have ever run therefore a personal best.

Course: Some hills, but nothing too bad. Nice course through Fort Worth esp on the northwest side and the cultural district.
