Swim
Comments: Carla's swim. great job! watched from bank for first few hundred yards, then went to transition area to wait. Transition 1
Comments: fast chip transfer, but lost a little time when I had to r/r my helmet due to bandanna issue... ran well out to bike start Bike
Comments: My bike. Really felt like I pushed it much harder than in other races, so I was surprised/disappointed that my time was just about the same as Celebration. Since the Relays go off last, there were a lot of riders on the course. Kind of fun, actually, but I had to slow down several times waiting to pass, and again on 108 approaching the park. Once after coming down a huge slope (and pushing 30 mph) I met with a wall of riders (several people passing a slower rider - not at all being jerks, just slower) and though there was room for 4 across, they didn't move over in time & I had to slow way down - that was truly a bummer. I was only carrying one water bottle and was glad to be able to pick up a bottle of Gatorade at the turn-around. I had meant to take a gel just before the bike & forgot - but I shouldn't really have needed it, since I hadn't done the swim. Overall, I felt like it was a good ride - passed 42 riders in the relay alone plus maybe 20 others. What would you do differently?: I learned to start calling out "on your left" really early and calling out jersey colors, etc., to help riders figure out that yes, I was asking them to move to the right. I tried pushing the hills harder this time - not sure how well this worked out. My legs were way more tired than after Celebration when I had used easier gears. Or maybe it was the post-race massage after Celebration that made the difference... definitely will try to get a massage next time. Transition 2
Comments: Really great position in transition, right next to run start. Run
Comments: Faye's run. Nice! esp since she had run 10 miles the day before... We all waited just before the turn for the chute to cheer her in. What an awesome kick at the end! Post race
Warm down: Nice post-race PITC celebration that afternoon. Event comments: Another great Tri-Columbia race! So well organized! (nice expo & swag, too..) Last updated: 2010-11-04 12:00 AM

Up at 5:30; drove to hotel & took bus to park. Not much to set up, since just doing relay. Go Pine Island Tri Club!!
Left bike shoes in tri-bag since it was pouring & I'd hadn't brought a plastic bag. Had a banana walking over to swim start with team.
Thunder & Lightning delayed the race start, but the skies eventually cleared & the weather was nice for the race.
Didn't do my normal dynamic stretches/NMA exercises since I had so much time - a mistake, as I forgot to do them later while waiting to bike.
