Swim
Comments: The buoy kept moving away from us so at least half of my wave turned before the buoy. Either that or the current had us going backwards. One woman got caught on the bouy and started going with it. It was crazy. What would you do differently?: Stay back and to the outside to get out of the pack. Transition 1
Comments: Because there was two transition areas, you had to put your wetsuit into a bag before you could leave the transition area. This made for some extra time. Walked bike to street - transition area was grass - and got on with shoes already on the bike. Found that my front brake was rubbing for the first two miles - was only going 12 mph! Moved it over and then was able to get up to speed. Found out after the race that my front tire was loose and that was the really problem. I was lucky I didn't crash. What would you do differently?: Double check my wheel when setting up bike. Bike
Comments: Once I got the brake to stop rubbing I felt good. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition. Put on socks and shoes and started running. Run
Comments: Need to work on speed in my bricks. What would you do differently?: Didn't stop for water because I felt like I had to go to the bathroom when I got off the bike. Probably should have stopped once halfway. Post race
Warm down: Walked around. Got a ART massage. Stretched. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of open water swimming experience. Not enough bricks. Event comments: The two transitions was a bit confusing. Need to have a bigger bag for T1 to fit the wetsuit. The swim was too hard for me because of the current. Needed to have more waves to spread people out. On the positive side, the bike course was awesome and the run was decent although a little tight at spots. I would consider doing this race again next year. Also, the racing jerseys they gave out to all entrants were very nice. Last updated: 2006-02-26 12:00 AM

There was two transition areas so it was a bit hectic getting everything in place. Picked up my chip, then went back to the car and changed and got my bike and everything together. Walked to T2 and set up my run stuff. Then rode (very slowly) to T1 and set up my bike. Went to the bathroom a couple times and then put on my wetsuit.
Just some stretching on the beach and a little swimming.
