Pre-race routine:

Woke up just after 5 and ate some oatmeal. Threw everything into my car headed over to pick up my neighbor at 5:45. He was was also running the half. Drank a water bottle of Cytomax on the way up there. Got to the parking lot around 6:30 and hopped on the bus to the start line. Hopped off the bus to find a row of port-o-johns with really short lines, so we hit that up and then headed off to watch the full marathon start. After the full took off, I hit the restroom one more time and got into my corral. I had put my predicted finish time down at 2:10, so I got put in corral #11 and on top of that I actually got into #12. Tried to keep warm until the start of the race.
Event warmup:

Not much at all. Took one Gu about 20 min before the start. Had stretched out a little bit and that was about it.

Comments:

I might as well have been running in another state because I don't go downtown very much and after running this course, I know why. Took my 2nd gel around 45 minutes and then took a 3rd when they were handing them out at the aid station.

What would you do differently?:

Went out a little too hard (noob) the first 5 miles. Almost every single mile was slower than the previous mile. I didn't specifically train for the half marathon and the longest run I did in the weeks leading up to the race was 9 miles. HR was at max the whole time, so I need to get that a little more under control. I would also put myself in a more accurate corral so I'm not dodging people the whole time. That does make you feel faster though. Last 3 miles were pretty long, so I really need to do more 8+ mile runs for these distances. I got my entry paid for by my employeere (Intel) since they had a Intel 'team' formed in the Get Fit challenge so doing it in the first place was not something I hadn't planned for a long time. I'm glad I did it though.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked it off for a bit and drank water. Found my wife and my older daughter and we walked over to pick up a finisher's shirt. Walked back to the car and got out of there. I was quite cold at the end of the race and took a while to get warmed back up.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of long runs in training.

Event comments:

Ranking among all men was 2548/7412.
