Pre-race routine:

nothing. had some oatmeal, couldn't eat much, butterflies. Drove to site and it starts sprinkling. "It's raining." DH: "oh, that's nothing". okay, dear. "AHHHHH! It's raining bullets!!" NO! DH: "It will stop soon" and I'm going on and on and freaking out over how it was 30% chance of rain and now this. It rained maybe 30% of the day today. huh.
Event warmup:

Hanging out in the warmth and dryness of the Convention Center, stretching.several trips to the bathroom. No lines. nice! Clean, bright bathrooms. None of that blue box stuff. wondering if I should of not wore the chip strap, I didnt' see anyone else wearing one. The only BTers I saw at start were Max, Renee, Rob, and MomX3(Amy??).

Comments:

Nice run, sparse spectator crowd. Weather had a lot to do with it. Found Max, he was freaking b/c we couldn't find Renee. Found her, hung out and waited for the start. At Mile 1 I decided to hop in a porta potty, which was good because every one after that had a line for them! It was raining bullets in some spaces, drizzling in others, and cold in parts. I stepped in puddles, damn and got squeaky shoes. Saw hubby and son on the bridge, stopped to give them a hug and pose for a picture. Ran with Renee, Max, and Rob for basically the first 5 or 6 miles till they had to go another way, then I was all alone. Caught up with Wendi at mile 11. Saw Sue out on the course spectating. That was nice, I was really starting to feel lonely running the whole half of the half by myself. Got my space blankie at the finish, son tried to claim it. but it's MINE, keep off! Got medal. Medal is cool.
What would you do differently?:

avoid puddles. squeaky shoes are NOT fun. I need a new running bra- I have a large chafe mark (aka booby blister) on the front. It's not painful, but annoying. Work out a nutrition plan- I should have had two gels instead of one. I reached for the second and felt like I was gonna puke, so passed on it. Grabbed a clif shot at mile 8 but threw it back, the puke feeling came over me again. And I don't really like my fuel belt.
Post race
Warm down:

collapsed on the BTbeer cooler. Walked around in search for food. tried to keep warm with everyone else. It was freakin' cold. Massage sucked. Had a Starbucks coffee. Walked back to car. Tom was actually walking faster than I was.. .went home and took a 2 hour nap.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

first time at this distance. That and me and my big fat ass is slow.

Event comments:

Race started late. Tom said he overheard it was because the set up crew didn't want to set up the timers in the rain. They had to wait for everything to get set up. There were no oranges left at the aid station. Aid stations were very well manned. I thanked a lady who was raking up cups and she just lit up like a 1000watt bulb.
