Comments:

My strategy was to start up front with faster runners and wear as little as I could given the weather. I was feeling good early on so I stuck with a fast pace. Course was not well marked so I wasn't sure of my pace/mile until mile 3. By that point I knew I was in for a good result if I could keep up the pace. Held on well and set a personal best for a five mile course.
What would you do differently?:

The event lacked any type of hype, such as music at the starting area, or crazy motivational guys on bull horns. I'd place clear markers at each mile and I'd have a person at each mile marker shouting out the time. Also, some sponsorship booths handing out free stuff would be nice at the end of the race. Powerbar anybody? These next two might be petty: Better designed shirts would be nice (these are one-sided very plain), and a goodie bag filled with something, anything, would be great (dental floss, race information for upcoming events), etc.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk out, drink water, leave for home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

No complaints, this was my best five mile ever.

Event comments:

See above. Great day for me personally, but the race needed some better planning.
