Swim
Comments: Pretty good swim. My shoulder is 100%. I did a really good job of maintaining form and breathing easy and staying relaxed. Sighting was a bit of a problem. What would you do differently?: I should have done more OWS this summer. Transition 1
Comments: This was the longest T1 ever. The run to the transition area was made longer by the fact that they had it on a loooooong narrow parking lot instead of the mud covered field it's been on in the past. I had run for 2 minutes before I even got to my bike. Bike
Comments: Great bike. Really the best I have ever done in a HIM. I think it may be only my second fastest time in this race, but I am thrilled that I did it so easily and was able to leave a lot in the tank. The course has some tough hills, but I have trained hard this year on the bike and I knew I was ready for this course. It's nothing like Harriman and definitely, nothing like LP. They really need to give you more on this course than just a water filled bike bottle. It's a little ridiculous considering the amount of cash this company rakes in this weekend. No Gatorade, no gels, no powerbars... nothing. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty quick t2... until I stopped to get the bottle of gatorade I remembered I left in my bag. I knew I'd need it since I ran out of fluids with about 15 miles to go on the bike. Run
Comments: Awesome. I finally put it all together today and had a good HIM run on a tough course. In the past, when I was striving to break 6 hours, the run was my downfall, but not in this race. I finally stayed fresh and strong throughout the 13 miles Post race
Event comments: Like I said, I FINALLY put it all together at this race and had an excellent day. My goal here, in four attempts has been to break 6 hours. I knew, in my heart, that I could do it today, it was just a matter of racing smart. This is easily the smartest race I have had at MightyMan. I pushed hard on the bike, knowing that was my strength, but not too hard that I had nothing left in the tank after the first loop on the run. This really is the culmination of a great, great season for me. New prs in a 15k, half marathon, olympic distance tri, my first IM and FINALLY, a new pr in a HIM. All of the work and stress and time that I've put in this year has paid off in a huge way. Last updated: 2010-11-10 12:00 AM

Got up at 3:30am, packed the car and headed out to Montauk. Drank a cup of coffee and ate a bagel on the way there. Had a powerbar 45 minutes before the start of the race.
