Run
Comments: Very poor course management on my part!! I went out way too fast. I felt just fine for the first 4 miles which seems to make sense because my runs have been at a slower pace for no more than 5.5 miles. Had a gel at about 4.5 miles and then when I backed off the pace at mile 5 my legs were feeling pretty spent. I recovered a bit, but really struggled settling into a pace again. Based on my last mile, I think I should have been able to hold an 8:15 pace the for miles 6,7 and 8. What would you do differently?: Start out slower and run my own race instead of getting sucked into a fast group regardless of how great I feel. I also would have tried to start out at about an 8:15 pace and slowly work my way down to 7:45 by the last mile. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed an oatmeal cookie, banana and XLR8 (sports drink) and walked a bit. Stretched along side the rode while I waited for Rachelle to finish and then ran the last 1/4 mile with her to the finish line. What limited your ability to perform faster: Poor race planning and course management!! On race day, this may be one of the most important things. Event comments: Seems like as soon as people were done, they hopped in their cars and went home. There were very few people around to cheer on finishers. Overall, this was a very good race for me. I didn't do nearly as well as I hoped, but I did learn alot. I'll have to be much more mentally focused than what I was for this race. Last updated: 2006-02-27 12:00 AM

Not real good. I wasn't focused and hadn't really formed a race plan other than having a goal of averaging an 8 min mile.
Rachelle and I got our goodie bags dropped them off at the car stretched just a bit, hit the restroom and next thing ya know, the race was under way.
