Total Time = 1h 23m 21s
Overall Rank = 31/114
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 5/16
Pre-race routine:

6am wake up - waffles/banana for breakfast. glass of water.
Event warmup:

stretch, jogging a bit to loosen up. ran the parking lot a few times with a few accelerations.
Swim
  • 08m 51s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 13s / 100 yards
Comments:

pool swim was last event - reverse tri. not a bad time for only swimming twice leading into the race. The pool swim was different from past - would swim one length and switch lanes, completing 200m then get out and walk back to start and do again. wasn't as hard to pass, or get passed this way.
Transition 1
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

this was actually t2 - time estimated as there were not splits. need to be quicker - but stripping off all clothes takes a bit longer!
Bike
  • 46m
  • 14.5 miles
  • 18.91 mile/hr
Comments:

decent bike, I was flying going out, but the back was a bit slower with the hills. this was the shortest bike leg in the 5 tris I've done. shorter bike hurts me vs. comp I feel because it's my strong leg. but still a decent split. Thought I would have been a bit faster on the bike though. I did feel a few cramps at the start, but drank some gatorade and stood and stretched a bit and it went away.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

first transition, time is close to exact. a bit slower than I would have liked. only a shoe switch, but slow!
Run
  • 25m 30s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

I went out a bit to fast and had to take it easy on the down hills. the hills were harder this year because there was no hard-packed sand to run on. but still ran a decent split, just 15" off my PR on this course.
Post race
Warm down:

stretched, eat bagels/bananas drink water and a big ol glass of chocolate milk.

Event comments:

the race director needs to have transition mats so we can get our splits on each leg. I think it's a bummer they didn't do this. I enjoy looking at age group rankings for each split.

enjoyed the race though. It was nice not taking the training as serious in the past and just going out and racing. I didn't even plan on doing this event since I hadn't trained like normal, but I was able to still compete at a good level and enjoy it!
