Run
Comments: Started at the front, but went out WAY too fast. first 1/4 mi pace 7:34, 1/2 mi 7:51, and 8:15 by 3/4 mi. Finished mi 1 at 8:21. as far as I can tell a PB for a mile!!! (edit - 7:59 is PB - 11/30/09) had to slow down, chest hurt, 169 max HR with 162 avg isn't sustainable. At 1.54mi finally decided to walk w HR hovering at 170. even with a 40 second walk, mi 2 finished in 9:30. Another 45s walk at 2.3mi. Lap 3 10:24, a much more scott like pace, but still fast considering i walked for as long as i did. the walk took place on a fairly long hill (for me) and i walked up the last 100' or so. the rest of the race was downhill and my pace turned negative split. sprinted to the finish and only about a minute off of my overall PB, which was last year's Turkey Trot. Other than that - no shin splints or knee pain at all!! But considering I've only been back at running since Oct 14th I'm REALLY happy with my time :) What would you do differently?: Start a little slower so the walks wouldn't have been necessary. Post race
Warm down: Stretched and walked around. Really good post-race food - nothing hot, but yummy snacks. What limited your ability to perform faster: started too fast which kept my HR just a little too high. Event comments: Would do again. Last updated: 2010-11-12 12:00 AM

Nothing special. Wake up, ate a clif bar and a banana and had a sugar free red bull.
